For the past 7 years, the Lagos Fashion and Design Week has celebrated African fashion. Produced by Style House Files, this season witnessed a different and impressive angle of collaboration, access to market, education, new talent discovery, showcase opportunities, and fashion talks.

From the talent nurturing and discovery arm – Fashion Focus to launching an incubator platform to further support emerging designers Gozel Green, Sisiano, Onalaja, Titi Belo and Deji Eniola some of who were selected to present their work at Tranoi Tradeshow Paris and Pitti Super Milan Tradeshow, Milan, the passion to create international exposure and ensuring that Nigerian and African Brands are well represented in trade shows has witnessed partnerships and collaborations with Selfridges, NEPC on a 3 city tradeshow in Las Vegas, Milan and Paris, trade fairs in Nigeria and a pop up in Lagos for Independent young brands like Vathiswa by Keji, Zurizola woman and Beejay Busari and flagship showcases.

The #HLFDW featured 50+ African Designers showcasing their craft over a 4 day period from 25th – 28th October, 2017 in Lagos, Nigeria at the prestigious Eko Atlantic City.

This year’s infusion of fashion business series to facilitate conversations with key players from the Nigerian and International fashion industry was a welcome development for networking, exchanging ideas and improving the fashion industry. The series had speakers like Cosmas Maduka (Founder/CEO of Coscharis Group), Mark Van Itersen (Design and Concept Lead at Heineken Global), Mobolaji Dawodu (Fashion Director at GQ Style), Sara Maino (Deputy Editor in Chief at Vogue Italia), Sissi Johnson (Global Brand Strategist), Mode Aderinokun (Founder at Studio on Mode), amongst others speaking on Sustainability, Digital, Technology, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Distribution and Media.

The slicing on the cake was the fashion talks featuring South African T.V Presenter Bonang Matheba, The Assembly, Muslimah Style Guide amongst others talking about brand building, Power of collaboration, Modest fashion etc. The coolest space was the Creator’s Lounge, a style haven for bloggers, press and content creators to chill, connect and create content on the go hosted by The Assembly and Newton and David.
