You heard about the designers at the just concluded Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2017. What you didn’t hear was the fashion stylists behind the show production that styled the pieces which elicited the Ooohhhs and Aaaahhhss from the audience.
Stylists work behind backstage for a successful show making sure the models are properly dressed and catered to promptly.
Today, we celebrate three stylists at #HLFDW17 namely Tosin @thestyleinfidel, Maryanne @mayreejay and Rhoda @rhodaebun who worked with designers Samuel Noon, Omilua and Ugo Monye respectively on their shows.
Maryanne styled Omilua’s SS18 Collection on the first day of fashion week. While fashion enthusiasts, bloggers, members of the press are getting busy with street style edits, sharing and curating style contents for their various online media, and just generally getting fashion busy, she is backstage, so not looking street style worthy, but excited for the shows to begin. Working with Nigerian based fashion designer O’milua for the third time she styled the collection labeled ‘Sisi Yemi’ – She is a Lady”.
The collection was greatly inspired by a mixture of two cultures, African and the Cuban Spanish heritage, the transatlantic slave trade of the blacks in Latin Africa with Yoruba roots.
The collection featured, bright colors which are this seasons trends, from blue, tangerine, red, canary yellow, to mention a few, it also had ruffles, gingham patterned, prints, mesh socks, stripes, and over the top hair bow accessories. It is a perfect picture of the young, vibrant, free and very functional.
Talented fashion Stylist Tosin @StyleInfidel known for his prolific fashion editorials styled the Samuel Noon’s SS18 Fashion Narrative ‘Let’s See Yellow’ in collaboration with Mobos Fashion.
The collection had pieces created in Yellow colour. Yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honor, loyalty, and joy. From dress jackets to layered cuts, the collection stood out amongst the crowd.
53 Extra stylist and lead consultant of the Roses and Thorns fashion company styled the Ugo Monye #Realeomega2017 collection that was showcased on Day 1 of fashion week.
The male fashion collection was that of royalty and class. The pieces conveyed confidence, maleness, and kingly style. It was the perfect representation of ‘The King is here’ themed after the classic movie ‘Coming to America’.
