Nigeria’s first blogger agency, The Blogger Point welcomed over 90 bloggers at the Bar Bar Cuts in Lagos and Cocktails and Laguna Lounge in Abuja on 20th and 27th August, 2017 respectively for the second edition of the annual all white themed bloggers brunch.
In Lagos, bloggers gathered together with special guests: Chiamaka from The Social Prefect Tour, Akin Faminu, Deola Adebiyi from OmogeMura, Toyosi Gregory Jonah from Desire1709 and Sharon Ojong, fashion consultant and stylist while there was Annabelle Giwa-Amu, Rhoda and Lydia Stanley in Abuja.
The event hosted by Demi Akinfenwa (TBP Assistant Creative Director) started with an ice breaker event called ‘Find the Blogger’ then followed up with a quick brief of The Blogger Point aims, goals and plans for the upcoming years by the founder, Maryam Salam.
Shortly after, the seminar discussion titled: Bridging the gap between bloggers and brands launched with blogging tips from guests. The 3 major pieces of advice given were for bloggers to know their value in the industry, stay consistent and make sure their statistics are accurate and defendable. Finally, all the guests agreed that all bloggers must be committed and dedicated to building a sustainable blogging journey that can transform into a business. Bloggers were advised against starting a blog without passion for blogging.
Regarding collaboration with brands, Sharon Ojong advised bloggers to approach brands nicely with values and substance and make sure the brand’s target audience matches your target audience. Chiamaka stated that bloggers should make sure they are working with brands that can add values to their personal brand and profile.
The event ended with a brunch time and free networking time for bloggers to mingle and connect with each other. This was followed by the goody-bags allocation and group picture. Overall, it was a pleasant event.
